WHY MOST FITTERS SKIP NVQ (AND WHY THEY'RE WRONG)

"The industry doesn't value it"

Wrong. Site access for major commercial projects, higher day rates, and public sector work all demand proof of competence. The days of walking onto any site without a card are ending.

"I've been doing it for years"

Your experience is your evidence. The NVQ doesn't teach you how to lay a floor; it proves on paper that you already know how to do it to a professional standard.

"It's expensive"

£1,250 is an investment, not a cost. Compare that to the contracts you'll win, the higher rates you can command, and the commercial sites you can access. Do the maths.

"Too much paperwork"

This is an assessment-only route. It's highly practical, observation-based, and focused on the jobs you are already doing. Not classroom exams.
